
MAX PAPART
Max Papart was born on December 14, 1911 in Marseille. He lives and works in Paris. After short studies in the Ecole des BeauxArts, he decides in 1940 to devote himself entirely to painting.
First exhibitions in Marseille, Vence and Nice in 1945. At that time, he travels through Italy and learns the lithographic art. First engravings.
Back in Paris in 1950, he shows since then in several salons and famous galeries (De Groote, Pétridès, Camille Renault ... ).
His art has evolved to a non figurative expression in 1958, and he devotes a Part of his important activity to lithographs and etchings; his perfect technic makes that he is appointed to a post of Assistant lecturer of Etching in Vincennes University in 1969.
In a parallel direction, Papart illustrates books, especially "A travers prairies et bois, je marche", poem from André Verdet (1950), "Lubéron", by the same author (1967), "Le sang, la sève, l'eau et les larmes" from Georges Ribemont dessaignes (1968), "Telle la feuille et l'arbre" from Andrée Caraire, and "Le règne végétale poem from Georges Ribemont Dessaignes (Books No. II, Editions Ottawa University). "Silencieuse entrave au temps", Jean Orizet.
He made also two medals for the "Club de la Monnaie" in Paris, and glass sculptures which has been published in Venice, Italy.
His work can be seen in important museums and collections, in France (Paris, Marseille, Menton, St. Paul-de-Vence ... ), as well as overseas: United States (New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Yale, Miami ... ), Israel, Sweden, Mexico ...
